Leona Lewis and Elton John at Rock in Rio

That'll be a festival! After its break last year, Rock in Rio Lisboa is really going to town in 2010: there are more and more headlining acts on the billing list, which ordinarily only play at selected festivals, if at all. Newly confirmed are the British superstars Leona Lewis and Elton John. They are adding to the already remarkable line-up consisting of Shakira, Miley Cyrus and Rammstein. Also performing in Lisbon are Snow Patrol, John Mayer, Ivete Sangalo, Muse, Motörhead and Sum 41. Additional top notch acts are said to be announced in the near future.

Stars, such as Deadmau5, John Digweed, Calvin Harris with a DJ set, Chris Lake, as well as the Soul Mates featuring Pedro Tabuada & King Bizz will be providing the right sound in the Electronica area. They're however still looking for fortification at the decks: for the first time, the organizers of Rock in Rio Lisboa are announcing a competition, by which they're looking to find the best amateur DJ. He/she will then get the masses to dance with his set at Rock in Rio.

If you feel you have a calling and you're at least 18 years old, you can upload your set, which shouldn't be longer than 30 minutes max, to the homepage until April 4th. From April 5th through the 11th, the audience has the say and will vote for its favorite set online, while a panel of experts makes its selection at the same time. Subsequently, the three most popular acts will face another online vote, from which the winner will be selected on April 26th. Not only will he/she then be live on stage in Lisbon on May 22nd, but he/she will also receive   admission tickets, including backstage passes for the Electronica area for themselves and two friends.

Rock in Rio Lisboa will be celebrated from May 21st through the 30th. A daily ticket costs 58 Euro. You can find additional information on the festival's homepage.

Following the festival in Lisbon, the Rock in Rio Festival is continued in Madrid with a largely different line-up from June 4th through the 11th and the 14th. Amongst others, the Spanish capital will feature Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, Shakira and, newly confirmed, Cypress Hill, David Guetta , Metallica, Rage Against the Machine,Tiësto, Paul van Dyk and Motörhead on stage. Additional acts are supposed to be announced shortly.
