Attention! Ticket cheats!
After ticket fraud on a grand scale was exposed for British festivals, the organizers of Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are now also sounding a note of caution for local festivals and concerts. In order to avoid disappointments and considerable financial damage, the concert tickets should only be purchased at official advance ticket agencies, the organizer MLK's press release read. For Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, as well as for all the other events of the Marek Lieberberg concert agency, the tickets are exclusively available through Eventim, Tickets per Post and the official ticket agencies affiliated with the CTS system. The press release continued, explicitly warning of all other unlicensed suppliers and the so-called ticket platforms on the internet.
According to a report by the renowned British New Musical Express (NME, February 13th, 2010), fraudulent ticket dealings on a grand scale which could have an overall effect on this year's festival and concert season, had been discovered in Great Britain after a joint investigation by the police security companies and festival organizers. Last year, criminal gangs had done some harm to the Reading and the Leeds Festival in particular during their "trial run". The crooks' scam isn't just especially malicious, but also twice as lucrative at the same time: to begin with, the gangs had incited the fans to buy tickets via copied festival homepages which had an eery resemblance to the original sites. After those tickets turned out to be counterfeits, the disappointed festival visitors were soaked a second time, when the very same gangs sold them bogus wristbands. With these the fans were of course also rejected during the entrance check, since only the official wristbands and original tickets have a bar code which is read by scanners at all entrances and verifies the issuing location.
In order to also put a stop to the ticket fraud in Germany, the organizers are appealing to the fans to buy their tickets at the official merchants. According to MLK, ticket inspections and wristbands will also be enforced at such events as Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in the future.
