Equipment heist, take 2

After unknown perps hi-jacked the tourbus of Iggy & The Stooges on Monday, including the equipment inside of it worth several ten thousands of dollars (we reported), news just emerged that Iron Maiden was also robbed. After a gig in Athens/Georgia this past weekend, Adrian Smith’s new guitar was missing. The valuable sixstring is a Jackson Stratocaster with Adrian’s autograph and the serial number 8467. Since the guitar is a unicum, it should be difficult to resell it, it says in a statement on Iron Maiden’s homepage. Here the band also asks fans for their help in the search. A signed tour jacket and a personal thank you letter from Smith beckon as a reward.

The Stooges are also asking for fan support in finding their equipment. In particular bassist Mike Watt. Although the bus, which was snatched in Montreal after a gig, has been recovered in the meantime – it was almost entirely ransacked. Watt has now posted a list and picture gallery of all the stolen items on his hompage. The bassist is most distraught about the loss of his famous “Little Bass”: “You can’t imagine what I feel like”, writes Watt in an e-mail to the online magazine Pitchfork. “It had such emotional value for me, I’ve done tons of performances and recordings with it (...), it’s a part of me.”
