Wacken Open Air

That was it: Wacken 2010

Faster, harder, louder! After three days of concentrated Metal and party power, Wacken 2010 ended successfully and peaceful in the wee hours of August 8th. A total of 82,500 participants, amongst them more than 75,000 fans, as well as artists, helpers, press, VIPs, rescue workers and security staff and the villagers, who had free admission as usual, celebrated more than 100 bands, like Alice Cooper, Slayer, Tiamat, Mötley Crüe, Cannibal Corpse and Iron Maiden, in the quaint village of Wacken, near Itzehoe (Schleswig Holstein) from August 5th through the 7th. The federal state government reported more than a quarter of the fans had come from abroad.

According to police reports, the Open Air proceeded without any bigger incidences. Only 20 charges for assault and 356 for pickpocketing were filed, so a spokesperson of the police department.

True to the motto: "After the festival, is before the festival" the successful limited edition W:O:A-X-Mas-Special including tickets for the wacken Open Air 2011 will be going on sale on Monday (August 9th). The three-day ticket plus W:O:A shirt and sampler will be available in the online shop of the official festival homepage for 99 Euro (including VAT, plus ten Euro fee). The Wacken Open Air 2011 will be celebrated from August 4th through the 6th, 2011.
