Wacken Open Air

Wacken hymn from U.D.O

What Rock singer Doro startet for the 20th anniversary last year, Udo Dirkschneider is continuing in 2010: the German Metal legend, former Accept and U.D.O frontman, is presenting the "Wacken hymn 2010". "The Wacken Open Air is THE family gathering of the Metal scene. It has its own unique fascination. That's why we immediately accepted, when the request (...) came in, whether we wanted to record the new Wacken hymn", so singer Dirkschneider and U.D.O guitarist Stefan Kaufmann. Right on time for the kick-off this Thursday (August 5th) the song will be available everywhere on the Wacken grounds. As an extra, the recording also features U.D.O's "Bogeyman" from their current album "Dominator" as well as Subway to Sally's Wacken song "It‘s After Dark" and "The Burning Anniversary" by the Victims of Madness.

If you want to shop for really cool Wacken items, the anniversary DVD of W:O:A's 20th birthday in 2009 is also available directly at the festival, starting immediately. The 500 awesome minutes in total are compiled on three DVDs in an eight-page illustrated digipack, featuring 70 live tracks, 60 bands, various documentaries and the probably longest ever DVD credit list with 17,500 named participants.

The celebration of the 21st edition of the Metal Open Air will go on in Wacken until August 7th with bands such as Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper, Slayer, W.A.S.P., Soulfly, Gravedigger and Anvil. The festival is sold out.
